(More customer reviews)I have been surf fishing for several years and accumulated a good-sized collection of rods. Up until now, they have been stored in a corner of my garage and I have been worried that my boys would somehow destroy them. I decided the best solution was to get them up in the air, so I initially searched for a set of the wooden type commonly used on boats, but the Clear Choice Concepts caught my eye because of their clean look. I placed my order and they were promptly shipped from Carlsbad, California. I received them in less than a week (I live in Washington, D.C.) When they arrived, I was blown away over the thickness of the acrylic material used in their construction and found they weigh much more than I anticipated. Moreover, I was surprised to see that the acrylic is nearly a half inch thick. While I did not find any installation instructions included with my order, it was very easy to figure out how they should be installed and simply lined them up. Toggle bolts were included with my shipment, so I saved a trip to the hardware store and simply secured them to the garage ceiling five feet apart (smaller duty rods might require less room between brackets). Under normal circumstances, I might have been a bit concerned about cracking the acrylic by tightening the bolts, but (again) that never became an issue because of the thickness and quality of the materials used in the manufacturing process. After completing the installation, I quickly put my rods away and found the brackets easily hold the rods against the ceiling. In retrospect, I think these brackets are probably the best available of ANY type to use on a boat- acrylic will not degrade in harsh sunlight or a salt water environment...unlike wooden rod holders. I unequivocally recommend the C3 brackets. Order a set, I promise you won't be disappointed!
